GENU AND BIENNAIS, PARIS Covered cup and silver display stand. Paris, Marie-Joseph-Gabriel Genu, 1798-1809 and Martin-Guillaume Biennais, 1801-1806. Hallmarks of Genu and Biennais on the lid and the tray, hallmark of Genu on the body and the pedestal. The tray is bordered by a frieze of flowers and is chiseled on the rim with palmettes and volutes. The body is flanked by two flat handles, decorated with flowers between two beaded friezes, forming two volutes centered on medallions with lion heads. It is bordered by a frieze of palmettes. The cover, chiseled with flowers and volutes on the perimeter, is curved in the center and surmounted by a stylized grip with flutes and base of lanceolate leaves, motifs repeated on the terrace. Small shocks, breakage of the inner edge of the lid (crack). Probably reunion of the lid and the display stand with the cup. Height (total) : 17 cm. Diameter (bowl) : 16 cm. Diameter (display stand) : 23 cm. Weight (total) : 994.30 g.
